Super Bowl Sunday
Who will win Super Bowl 46? We will find out on Sunday, February 5. There will be a Super Bowl party in the dining room that day beginning at 3:30 pm. Order a sub sandwich from the T.G.I.F. crew, settle in on the couches, and watch the big game on the big screen. Not interested in football but your spouse is? There will be tables set up in the back of the dining room for conversation. Enjoy the game with friends-or something like that. Appetizers Welcome.


Grief Share
Central Christian Church is proud to announce the establishment of GriefShare with the start date of September 13, on Tuesday nights for 13 weeks, 6:30-8:30 pm. To sign up or for more information please call Mel at CCC during business hours at 252-1828. Michael Smith will be your GriefShare Group Leader. Don’t try to go through the grieving process alone. Link up with our GriefShare grief recovery support group. It’s a place where you’ll find caring people who understand the issues you face.

Healing from your grief is not easy. It’s a long, sometimes painful process.

We want to help you on your journey toward recovery.

To learn more about GriefShare go to www.griefsahre.org. Registration must me limited to about ten participants. Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. The seminar is presented free, however each participant will need a workbook, the cost is $20 each.

What’s New for Single Adults, Families with Children, and Youth in 2012?


Sunday Morning Programs:

At 9:00 am Church and Society Class, Multipurpose Room

Don Beal continues to schedule community leaders who, through their passions and careers are making compassionate inroads into our community on behalf of the “least of these.”

At 10:15-11:00 am Kid's Own Worship, Multipurpose Room

Donna Welch invites children grades 2-6 to join her for a lively discussion of Biblical passages during worship. Children leave the sanctuary after the Children’s Message. Parents can reunite with their children when the morning worship service is over.

Sunday Afternoon Programs:

Gathering Threads: Deepening Connection
The purpose of this groups is to discover what it means to live a life of faith, with a focus on how to deepen your personal connection to God and your connection to other. Activities include-discussion questions to start the time together, small group discussions/one-on-one sharing; and contemplative time. In January, the discussion will revolve around questions people of faith ask about church and the Bible. There are no set answers to the questions, but discussion on how different aspects of faith help or hinder our growth. The group meets every Sunday from 3:30-5:00 in the Fireside Room at Grace United Methodist Church. The first meeting will start in the Fireside Room then go across the street to Susan’s house for pizza and drinks. Rev. Keener will be attending the first meeting.

Parenting Group—3:30-5:00 at GUMC

The purpose of this group is to support parents in that role by sharing parenting techniques and by providing a supportive environment in which you can discuss parenting dilemmas and share advice with one another. The group will be lead by both a parenting educator and a group facilitator, Rev. Keener, so participants are ensured that they not only gain information but also connect more deeply with each other as supports for the challenge of parenting. The group will meet for 7 weeks.

MAD (Making A Difference) Kids Grades K-5

If you want children to know the stories of Jesus and what it means to love their neighbor this is the right group. Every Sunday from 3:30-5:00 children gather to learn the stories of Jesus in fun and engaging ways and to participate in service projects to learn how to love our neighbors in real and tangible ways.

All of the programs listed above begin on Sunday, January 8. There are activities for children in grades K-5, activities for preschool children and a nursery provided for children under 3. For more information contact Susan Otey at 259-9711 or Dana Keener at 252-1828.



T.G.I.F (Teens Gather In Faith)
Youth in grades 6-12 meet to grow in knowledge of their faith/scriptures, to grow in mission, and to support each other (fellowship.) Sponsors for this groups are Susan Otey, Dana Keener, Eli Keener, Loueen Peterson, Deb Cox and Todd Mays. We meet from 5:30-7:00 pm every Sunday at Grace United Methodist in January. Contact Rev. Keener at 252 -1828 for more information.

Sunday, February 5T.G.I.F. makes sub sandwiches from 8:00-10:00 am at Grace United Methodist church. They’ll be sold in our church kitchen following worship. Cost: $6.00. There are extra subs!


Adult Sunday School
Rev. Russ Myers is starting an adult Sunday school class on Sunday morning from 9:00-9:50 am. The class will be covering the books of Luke and Acts. Contact Rev. Myers at 245-7431 for more details. This is a wonderful opportunity to expand your knowledge of your faith, and get to know people on a different level.

Disciple Women meet the 3rd Wednesday, at 1:00 pm at the church.
